This has probably been the most fun I’ve had writing a novel, and at the end of it, I  don’t hate it which is WEIRD, because typically at the end of first draft I kinda hate everything a little. I’m glad to have done this, I will do it again next year, and encourage any writer to do so, you will discover so much about yourself.

Now then, I’m gonna GTFO and watch X Files.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 26 Survival Journal

45,986 / 50,000

As I look at that word count, I marvel thinking to myself that g’lord, I really can pound out a 50k novel in one month, with often times little more than 1 hour a night. That’s a pretty cool thing, and as I reach the end of the marathon, I am thankful.

December will bring the end of 2015, and the beginning of revision. This will be my third novel length story, and maybe just maybe the one that gets the bite.

Thank you everyone who has ever believed in me, and encouraged me.

Keep writing, you’re nearly there.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 25 Survival Journal

44,308 / 50,000 words

So, I came upon a word today, a phrase perhaps. It made me smile.

In the writing world, we have a phrase called “Writer’s Block” which means you are unsure of how to proceed with your story, out of a reason such as fear, rejection, lack of material, or some other inexplicable thingamajig.

Today I am coining the term “Writer’s Blue Balls” as I’ve never seen it used and golly I like it.

So blue balls is when you’re all hot and bothered, and suddenly someone can’t finish what they started and you end up having this issue down south that you can’t take care of.

I diagnosed myself today with Writer’s Blue Balls. I was on lunch, writing, and had 30 minutes. I got to the Siege scenes where this huge freaggin battle breaks out, and all kinds of spells are flying everywhere, muskets are misfiring, and there is an overabundance of OH HOLY SHIT DID YOU SEE  WHAT HE JUST DID? It was so exciting, and i was reveling in the battle.

And then my lunch ran out of time, but my pen/keyboard had more to write. I didn’t want to stop, I wanted to finish, i wanted to get mine. But i was told, no sorry, we’re out of time.

It’s terrible. So yes, Writer’s Blue Balls is when you’re writing this sexy scene, and suddenly you have to stop and cant’t finish and spend the rest of the day all antsy and tripping balls over words like “Skippidlybop” and “Tuskerino!”.

Nanostrong. 5 days left.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 23 Survival Journal

40,714 / 50,000 Words

Oh, Natalsa, will this finally wake you up? Will this catch your attention enough to make you take back what is yours? His power is only effective on you as long as you believe in the self pity you’ve bathed yourself in.

Death came. I did not like it, but she liked it less.

Death is necessary to make her do what she had to do. She never could have done it otherwise, and even still ; I do not think even THIS will be enough. Oh it will shake her to her core, but it will not ignite that cold wick longing to be touched.

She will burn, internally or externally for her actions, and I’m sorry Natalsa, I’m sorry to do this to you. But it’s time for you to wake up my dear.

Forgive me.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 22 Survival Journal

38,870 / 50,000

Tonight was the most productive night of writing I’ve had since the start of NaNo. Everything continues to build up, and the novel is pretty much on cruise control at this point. All I need to do is document the history, and hope I don’t miss too many details.

We have, in THIS CORNER, Leon and all the forces of darkness; demons, undead, Seekers.

And in THIS CORNER, a witch without her power, ten apprentices, and one capable witch, plus a man with a musket & long sword.

Currently accepting your bets.

It was neat, i had to write a footballish looking battle plan for how the Siege is supposed to go down, and it was neat. That’s really the only words I have for it. The next chapter officially starts the siege, and the battles and with battles, come injuries & death.

Eulalia.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 21 Survival Journal

36,865 / 50,000

I like Emmaline. She is the most fucked up character I’ve written, life shits on her on a daily basis, and I am really at a point where I think she could have been a stronger protagonist than Natalsa, of course, that is all current. Emmaline is the spark of insanity that Natalsa needs.

Natalsa is so close to losing everything she’s held dear, and she is so close to reclaiming her birthright, but she’s still not willing to give everything up for the magic and until that happens, she is crippled.

Emmaline’s diversity comes from that through all of her fuckery she is able to give everything she has to the magic, because that’s ALL SHE HAS LEFT. This is what makes her the stronger witch, and with that strength she will give Natalsa her out….and i just fucking realized how that will work. To revisit a former device ; it is the gear turning perfectly. It is as is Emmaline’s existence has led to this moment, and I am scared for her because when she realizes the power she wields, it may well tear the world asunder, and wouldn’t a handful of demons just love that opportunity? Kaltyges’s revenge in the final affair.

Shit.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 19 Survival Journal

33,440 / 50,000

I absolutely love those random, old bitty characters that creep into my novel. Marie had been there since the beginning as a pre-story character that disappeared. Well, we crossed paths tonight and I think she was possibly the most supporting character that was never a main character.

Her chapter was comedy, and I really didn’t expect too much comedy. I knew Natalsa had to dig deep tonight, but finding Marie was a surprise. I wonder how the rest of the novel, and Natalsa, will be affected by what happened with her tonight.

Natalsa has been given her quest, and her obligation. She is no longer the Queen in the story, and must calculate every move as she transitions into the bishop to continue with the chess metaphor.

11 Days longer. I can remember when I started writing these blogs, where I was counting down and saying 11 days until it starts.

I’m going to miss November.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 18 Survival Journal

31,747 / 50,000

Tonight I got to write a chapter I’ve been dying to write, and then out of nowhere, FEELS STRUCK. It was unkind, unwelcome, and utterly fantastic.  One of the major plot points has been reached tonight, and the resolution it presents will snowball the rest of the novel to its head.

This feels awesome. I cannot wait to start editing, and making all of this novel fleshed out to a fat 125k words or so! 😛

I’ll settle for 75k. And then I’ll settle for selling World Rights for a cool advance. Ive spent majority of my life writing, and I’m ready to sell a novel for money.

TALLY HO!
