In this the last of the Lipstick Trace Character Analysis we have our final character, Rosalyn Lyden. Rosalyn is a character similar to Quincy, in that her father didn’t show her love. But that is where the similarities end. Rosalyn recognized early her own worth and didn’t brood on her father’s shortcomings. A song that has continuously represented Rosalyn to me is “Smarter” from Eisley.  Most specifically, these lyrics :

“Even though I miss you, I’m thankful
Its obvious that this war was futile
So put your hands together and clap for
The painful choice you’ve made ’cause it’s right

I’m smarter than you
I’m smarter than you think
I’m smarter than you
I’m smarter than you think

You are the narcissist
You’re everything you saw in me”

Rosalyn is highly intelligent, but she does have her flaws. Because of an uncommon medical condition, she has the appearance of a woman on the outside, but her chromosomes are those of a male. This real condition is called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (More Available Here) and causes dating to be very difficult for her. She is somewhat shunned by others, similar to our other characters. However, this does not stop her from having a childlike & playful spirit to those she does call friends.

Queen, a band you may have heard of, has a song that fits her in my eyes. “Don’t Stop Me Now” is Rosalyn’s battle song.

“I’m a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I’m a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I’m gonna go go go
There’s no stopping me”

Rosalyn becomes the person in the story that everyone goes to when there’s a problem, though only one year older than everyone else, she has duality in her ability to be childish, and then to see things from an older point of view. Rosalyn is one of my favorites, because she may be closest to me in the way that we behave. When she loves, it’s done, she’s yours.
